What Lost Boys Achieved.
" Education is our Mother and Father".
Who are Lost Boys of Sudan?
The lost boys of Sudan are children who escaped the war and hidden genocide in in Southern Sudan. Most these children escaped their villages at age 5 and 17 and lived by themselves in refugee camps. While they were walking in the sahara desert, African jungles, and faced off thirsty and hunger thousands of thousands died on their way to Ethiopia and Kenya.
Why they are called Lost Boys?
While they lived in refugee camps and grew up by themselves, the international community gave them that name. Initially, there were several names given to them. While they were transformed from child soldiers to refugee, they were first known as the " Red Army". After they arrived in Kenya, they were renamed " Minors" and eventually renamed the Lost Boys of Sudan after their process of coming to America began in 1998.
Why I walk with them?
The lost boys and girls walk each year to remember their loved ones and friends who lost their lives during when they were walking many thousands miles. The victims died of hunger, thirsty, diseases, and attacks by wild animals and local people. Through prayers, the former lost boys believe that their nightmares especially those who have been traumatized can be healed and become strong again. The walk also fullfil their dreams.
